Safety for your
dog always comes first at Pant & Wag. The following are some of the safety
protocols that are followed:
100% Focus on your Dog: When we are with your dog, our complete focus will be on him. This means no cell phones, no texting, and no ipods while exercising with your dog.
Slow and Observing: Pant & Wag workouts are high energy and vigorous,
but we start slow and closely monitor the progress to allow your dog's body
to adjust in a healthy and natural manner. We also ask for and rely on our
human clients to report back to us any physical or behavioral changes the
dog exhibits while at home.
CPR: all trainers are trained in doggy CPR.
Canine First Aid: all trainers are trained in Canine First Aid.
First Aid Kit: A canine first aid
kit for dogs which contains the essentials needed to help your pet recover from everything
from a bug bite to an emergency will always be on the site of the Fitness Adventure.
is the second leading cause of deaths in dogs after cancer. Exercising your
dog too soon before or after feeding may increase the chances of bloat occurring.
To help prevent this condition, we educate our human clients both on this
web site and in person about the dangers of bloat. We record the dog's feeding
times and only schedule workouts a minimum of one hour before, or two hours
after those feeding times. We also require clients to inform us about any
changes in feeding times so we can reschedule (at no charge) the work-out
Monitoring: We monitor the weather for extreme heat or cold and then adjust
your dogs work-out accordingly (ex. outdoor workouts might be moved indoors or vice-versa depending on the dog).
Water Bowls: when your dog is exercising outside, his trainer will
always have plenty of cold water and portable water containers to keep your
dog hydrated and cool.
Veterinarian Check-Ups: An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, that's why we require that dogs seven years or younger must have had a check-up by a licensed veterinarian within a year of beginning the workout routine. Dogs eight years or older must have been examined by a licensed veterinarian within 6 months of beginning the workout routine.
Emergencies: All trainers know the nearest open veterinarian clinic
to their given workout location and the quickest route to get there. Additionally,
Pant & Wag will advance the initial costs for our clients and approve
the veterinarian recommended course of action should the client not be available,
so your dogs emergency treatment will not be delayed.*
