Questions about how we will Handle / Train your Dog

  • Can you describe your training methods?

As a general rule, we don't do anything that will cause pain or discomfort to your dog. We will never hit or strike your dog. We will never yank your dog's leash as a punishment. We don't use "alpha rolls" (pinning the dog to the ground) or "flooding" (subjecting the dog to something he or she doesn't like in large doses). We don't use choke chains, shock collars, or prong collars.

Our Fitness Adventures are supposed to be fun for your dog, not stressful! We will reward your dog with high praise and sometimes treats when he/she does something we would like him/her to repeat. Our positive training method will be fun and enjoyable for your dog during his/her Fitness Adventure.

  • Do you use treats to train? What kind?

Treats can be an effective tool to help train food-motivated dogs. However, humans must use caution as many treats are packed with unhealthy preservatives, artificial colors, sugar, calories, and fat. Pant & Wag only uses all natural treats which contain minimal ingredients. These treats are all natural, low fat, low calorie, and have no artificial preservatives. We may also use our homemade chicken flavored ice cubes during the summer months, which again have little to no fat, are low calories and have no preservatives.
