Meet our Expert Source:
Sean Prichard

Sean Prichard: Expert Canine Fitness Coach

If you're looking for insightful quotes from a leading authority on all subjects relating to dogs including stories about canine fitness, weight loss for dogs, dog sports, hiking with dogs, dog training, dog running, or just about any other topic in dogdom, meet Sean Prichard, President and Head Canine Fitness Coach of Pant & Wag.

With a lifelong love for dogs, Sean embarked (get it!?) on a journey that led him to establish Pant & Wag (PAW) — one of the first dog exercise and adventure companies in the U.S. (and maybe the world!) In 2010 this innovative venture was born out of the realization of the challenges faced by pet parents in balancing their own busy lives with the essential needs of their puppers to stay active, healthy, and well socialized. These needs were not being met by traditional dog care services such as dog daycare and dog walkers.

A leading expert in the fields of canine fitness and dog adventuring, Sean's extensive knowledge and expertise have been featured in reputable publications such as Newsweek on the subject of Getting Fit with Your Dog, The Washington Post, where he shared insights on the topic of Running with Dogs, and Women's Health magazine, where he contributed valuable advice on Starting a Fitness Program with your Dog. He has also been featured on PetMD discussing dog agility, ABC News 7 on the topic of Toxic Dog Treats, and his wisdom on helping dogs lose weight was showcased in the Washingtonian Magazine. Sean has been quoted in over two dozen media channels reflecting his authority in the realm of canine well-being.

Sean's approach to canine fitness and dog training is rooted in a strong academic foundation; He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Florida with a special emphasis in animal psychology. Sean combines his understanding of psychology with his professional experience as a communications director for multiple national education organizations in Washington, DC. Finally, both his academic experience and his professional communication style are conflated with his athletic achievements; He is a former Division I tennis player, a certified Developmental Coach recognized by the United States Professional Tennis Association, and an accomplished obstacle course competitor, having conquered challenges in renowned events such as Spartan Sprint, Spartan Super, Tough Mudder, and Rugged Maniac competitions.

These three aspects — academic, professional, and athletic allow Sean to effectively communicate and educate humans while leading dogs on safe and exciting exercise-based excursions. The end results are dogs that are healthier and happier and pet-parents that have more free time and a better understanding of the innate needs of their four-legged family member.

Beyond his academic and athletic achievements, Sean Prichard has invested his time in obtaining certifications that validate his expertise. He is a Certified Canine Fitness Coach (CCFC), ensuring that he possesses the latest knowledge and techniques to enhance canine health and vitality. Additionally, he is also trained in Canine CPR and First-Aid, underscoring his commitment to the safety and well-being of every dog he interacts with. Sean's dedication to canine nutrition is also evident, as he has earned a certificate in this specialized field, enabling him to provide well-rounded guidance on the dietary needs of dogs. Furthermore, Sean is a proud member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, a professional organization that emphasizes positive training methods and promotes the welfare of dogs through education and advocacy.
